01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

When a hearty fish lunch is in order, Amijū offers a dependable stop. Sizable mackerel fillets are grilled slowly to order, yielding crisp, fragrant skin over rich, succulent flesh. Classics such as salmon and barracuda round out the roster, accompanied by a generous mound of grated daikon radish, dashi-rich miso soup, and pickled vegetables for a classic, comforting Japanese spread.

Diners in the mood for meat can opt for ton-yaki instead. The tender grilled pork comes coated in a savory-sweet glaze and mayonnaise, served over shredded cabbage for a satisfying dish that pairs effortlessly with a bowl of steamed rice. A wide selection of small side dishes—including natto, raw egg, grated mountain yam, chilled tofu, and potato salad—allows you to customize the meal to your appetite.

Counter seating occupies the 1st floor, while table seating on the 2nd floor makes solo diners feel equally welcome. The shop opens for lunch and returns for evening service, and payment is cash only.
